Greek Evening
On June 22nd 80 parishioners and guests were transported to a village square in Greece by the sights and sounds of the Vicky Drakopanagiotaki traditional dance team, taught by Lola Spetsioti (our Visitor & Marketing Manager). A superb buffet of authentic Greek food was provided by Politis Delights who, along with Ithaca, belong to the Greek Cultural Society of Birmingham.
Parish Picnic Sunday July 14th
The sun shone as about 30 members of varying ages from the church family made their way to the vicarage with rugs, chairs and a wide assortment of food. The vicarage lawn provided ample space for us to share our picnics together while watching the children enjoy the trampoline and other ball games.
Treasure Hunt and Cream Tea Sept 7th
In spite of the damp weather 30 people of varying ages followed the trail around the river, finding clues along the way. All participants were rewarded with some chocolate and a cream tea. Another 20 joined the group in the hall, transformed for the afternoon into a traditional “Tea Room”, with embroidered tablecloths, pretty china and a 1950’s soundtrack.
Harvest Festival Curry Night Saturday 12th October
Sixty of us celebrated our Harvest Festival this year with a curry! The choice ranged from mild chicken to vegetarian, all wonderfully prepared by Marie and served with poppadom, mango chutney and tzatziki. On top of all this mouthwatering flavour, we then had ice cream, tea or coffee. We were also challenged to identify pictures of some exotic food products and match them with the countries where they are grown.
Christmas Pudding Workshop Stir - up Nov 23rd
On Sat 23rd Nov at the Parish Centre, tables were set up around the room with ingredients on each for the Xmas pudding making event. All the pudding makers processed around the room, took the allotted ingredients for each step, and stirred their mixture well. The helpers guided you at every step and the whole experience was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable. A bowl to put the mixture in was provided for each person along with steaming instructions for steaming the pudding at home.
Christmas Wreath Making
On Sat 30th November 15 people did each of the Christmas garland sessions in the parish hall, (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). The course was run by Sally Welch and Julie, and we arrived to find a beautiful garland hanging at the front of the room to inspire and enthuse us. The bases, the materials and extra decorations were all provided, along with tea/coffee/mulled wine and mince pies. The time sped past and by the end we were each leaving with an impressive garland of which we could be proud.
